Life is a lot like learning how to surf - learning not to be overcome by the waves, but to be able to STAND on your surfboard and to ride the wave out.
Once you get the hang of it, it is FUN as you feel the gentle breeze of Jesus on your face and the spray of the Spirit on your cheeks and your legs, as He propels you forward, helping you keep your balance and focus to enjoy the ride...!
Whoever learned to surf in one go? It takes some trial and error – taking a number of tumbles and probably choking on some water… but you will NOT die! It takes receiving instruction from someone who KNOWS how to surf. Then it takes a whole lot of practice - depending on how fast you are able to learn and be willing to follow instructions.
Let's be real - life is made up of many different kinds of waves.
But just the exhilarating vision of yourself riding a magnificent wave to the end without getting shaken, or falling off and having your limbs rattled by the crashing waters, is enough to keep you going - to try and try again until you ride triumphantly!!
And if you are a bit nuts, you probably would want to do it all over again…! Because IT’S FUN TO OVERCOME and live a fulfilling life!!
